Ani Yhwh Revisited
I have written about my introduction to
"Ani Yhwh" in my spiritual autobiography.
I described how "Ani Yhwh" became the consummate
prayer.
I have discussed chanting, and why it
has value.
The following material helps to continue this cycle.
You see, "Ani Yhwh" is one of the most frequent phrases in the
Bible. Oh, you probably will not see it in yours, but that's just the way
things are in these shallow, sad times. What you probably see is, "I
am the LORD," capitalized like that. I've explained
how this has come to be, how we got this far from the truth.
Issue 1: "LORD" is really sad...This is an ugly English substitute
for YHWH, the Holy Tetragrammaton, the sacred 4-Letter Name of God.
Issue #2: "I am" is the English rendering of "Ani"
(Aleph-Nun-Yod) in Hebrew. It literally is the word "I," but
serves the purpose of "I Am."
Issue #3: "Ani Yhwh" appears in the Bible 157 times. That's
right. There are very few phrases of any significance that appears more
often. (There may not be any, but I have not been able to confirm the
research on this.) God says it over & over.
Issue #4: When you read these passages, you, too, are repeating "Ani
Yhwh" over and over. You are serving as Yhwh's mouthpiece to proclaim
to all who will hear, "Ani Yhwh. I Am Yhwh."
Issue #5: The union of God & disciple is, therefore, shown most clearly
as we devote ourselves to Yhwh through the meditation on "Ani
Yhwh." He repeats it over & over, not mindlessly, but for a
reason. That's why that particular meditation has acquired the power of
centuries of tradition behind it.
I still recommend it to nearly all serious students.

Here, then, is a gift.
These are all the passages in the Bible that contain "I am the
LORD," replaced with the correct "Ani Yhwh."
I hope this will touch and inspire you as it has the faithful for centuries.
As I read it, one message comes through over & over....The purpose of the
bible, and God's actions in the world, is for one primary thing:
That we will know "Ani Yhwh!!!!"
